Ragnarok

RAGNAROK

Woe to Asgard and Valhall!
Here stands vigilant Heimdall
He blows the horn at Bifrost
Its time for gods to pay the cost!

The signs did came up in the past
But the gods thought they’ll never last
Sun and Moon have been devoured
The light elves have been overpowered

The Filmbulfiter winter did arrived
In Midgard no one survived
Three long winters, without day or spring
No sign of birds which sweetly sing

Now is the beginning of utter ruin
Odin has read the seeress’s rune
He once drank from Mimir’s well
Smell of doom he knows well

This is the End of all things
Odin now to his spear clings
But he is warrior and he will fight
With the slain warriors of Midgard beside

Terror’s now at Rainbow Bridge
Bifrost trembles, thyself be judge
See the grand army across
The giants of fire and of frost

They come to avenge of Ymir’s murder
The loss of Gerd is to consider
This giant maiden was thrilled away
Because of love, by the god Frey

Iotunheim trembles with war time cries
Surt mighty leads them across skies
The fire giant has a fiery sword
And he is the giants’ mighty lord

The earth vigourously shakes
Fire god Loki’s chain breaks
He is now free and in great wrath
He called on to his offsprings he begot

The sea churns and rushes aloud
As the giant serpent Iormungund proud
Rushes from the deep of sea
And joins his father trickster Loki

Sheer terror is Asgard itself
Chains of Fenris wolf break themselves
He is free and howls aloud
And rushes to his father with a shout

Grim-faced Hel rises from her throne
The call for battle to her is known
Gathering the cowardly and non-warrior dead
To her father Loki she moves ahead

Loki now laughs a fiery laughter
Fenris wolf Iormungund and Hel his daughter
All stand before him ready for war
They rush! They have to go afar

Odin and the gods wait for battle
Even the slain warriors are in no prattle
Each armed (oh Frey!) and ready
The gods they are, shining and steady

Loki and his offsprings come
To join the giants army awesome
Them the Surt from Muspellheim welcomes
For they near Asgard and here it comes

Army of giants are overpowering to behold
But the fate of gods, grimmer as told
As the Loki and his offsprings come along
Are a sight nobody can mock

Thus began the very last fight
And the test of armies might
For all are brave, valiant and strong
But which can stand for still little long

Loki rushes up to Heimdall
And strikes; but he will not fall
Both fight the uncompleted duel
Freyia’s necklace’s memory to both is real

Fenris rushes to his trickster Odin
One-eyed Odin shoves spear in his skin
His skin is hard, as hard as stone
But this the Allfather should have known?

Burning in vengeance Iormungund rushes
Whereas the Thor, Miolnir clutches
The thunder god now strikes him a blow
And Iormungund gushes out poisonous air flow

Alas Frey! You stand bare-handed
Thy curse the day when your sword you handed
To thy servant when he once had taken
An adventure to make Gerd your maiden

All thy found is a reindeer’s horn
From that you battle valiantly along
Oh! We do remember the day
When many fell to reindeer horn of Frey

But here comes Surt with his fiery sword
And a horn’s blow to him is of no accord
Frey’s reindeer horn charred and fell
And Surt’s fiery sword killed Frey as well

Loki struck and Heimdall too
And there lay perished the two
They killed each other; two gods are dead
But that’s no end to Asgard’s dread

Thor strikes with Miolnir in wrath
And blood gushes out from serpent’s mouth
Iormungund is dead and Thor is dying
For the poisonous breath of serpent is flying

Fenris and Odin fight for long
And the Odin’s spear pierces Fenris with a sound
But the Fenris’s fangs tore Odin apart
And the Allfather lies dead in Asgard

Vidar, his son, the silent god
Sees the sight and holds his sword
And in revenge for his father Odin
Killed the Fenris, and celebrated his win

Oh! Look down at Muspellheim
And the glow of fire, it might seem
And suddenly a great fire rushed forth
While warriors still fought for their lives’ worth

The fire enveloped everything and all
Everyplace ever existed and Valhall
Even the Niflheim and other realms
Were covered by fiery flames

Nothing survived and that was end
No victory for any god or fiend
Time had walked, it has no wings
As Ragnarok was the end of all things.
